Job Overview
This role involves designing and implementing urban agriculture systems tailored for Botswana’s semi-arid climate. The position requires collaboration with municipal planners, agricultural cooperatives, and technology partners to develop sustainable food production models for urban environments. Key Responsibilities
- Design climate-resilient urban farming systems using hydroponics and aquaponics technologies
- Conduct feasibility studies for municipal and commercial urban agriculture projects
- Develop crop yield optimization strategies for limited-space environments
- Collaborate with local governments on zoning and sustainability regulations
- Train community partners in system maintenance and crop management
Required Skills
- Expertise in urban agricultural system design
- Proficiency in GIS mapping for site analysis
- Knowledge of water conservation techniques
- Project management certification (PMP or equivalent)
- Fluency in Setswana and English
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field
- Master’s Degree in Urban Planning or Sustainable Development preferred
