Job Overview
The Hydrogen Production Plant Manager will lead the end‑to‑end operations of the new hydrogen facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible production. Reporting to the Regional Director of Operations, the manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant performance, from feedstock handling to product storage and distribution. Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily plant operations, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet market demand while optimizing resource utilization.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Manage budgets, CAPEX projects, and OPEX controls to achieve financial targets.
- Coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, and regulatory bodies to maintain strong relationships and secure necessary permits.
- Oversee maintenance programs, predictive analytics, and reliability engineering initiatives.
- Drive performance metrics, reporting key indicators to senior management and stakeholders.
- Implement sustainability practices, including water recycling, waste minimization, and carbon footprint reduction.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership in large‑scale industrial plant management, preferably in hydrogen, petrochemical, or renewable energy sectors.
- Strong knowledge of process safety management (PSM) and ISO 50001 energy management standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a data‑driven decision‑making approach.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Setswana is an advantage.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and plant monitoring software.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma Black Belt, Certified Safety Professional) are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.
Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of eight years of progressive experience in plant operations, with at least three years in a senior managerial role. Experience in hydrogen production, electrolyzer technology, or large‑scale renewable energy projects will be given priority. Demonstrated success in leading cross‑functional teams and delivering projects on time and within budget is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 800,000 to SSP 1,200,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, pension contributions, and relocation assistance where applicable.
