Job Overview
The Marine Renewable Energy Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of Ørsted’s marine renewable projects in Botswana. This includes overseeing feasibility studies, securing permits, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and environmental standards. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, finance, legal, and community liaison teams, as well as external partners such as government agencies, research institutions, and local contractors. The successful candidate will drive the project lifecycle from concept to commissioning, while championing Ørsted’s sustainability values and contributing to the broader vision of clean energy transition in Botswana.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets for marine renewable energy installations.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams through all project phases, ensuring alignment with technical, regulatory, and commercial requirements.
- Coordinate with Botswana’s Ministry of Energy, local authorities, and community stakeholders to obtain permits and maintain positive relationships.
- Oversee procurement, contract negotiations, and vendor management for marine turbines, mooring systems, and related infrastructure.
- Implement rigorous health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols, conducting risk assessments and ensuring compliance with local and international standards.
- Monitor project performance metrics, prepare progress reports, and present updates to senior leadership and investors.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, including technical, financial, and regulatory challenges.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability outcomes.
Required Skills
- Strong project management expertise with proven experience in renewable energy, preferably offshore wind, tidal, or wave projects.
- Excellent leadership and team coordination abilities, capable of motivating cross‑functional teams.
- Deep understanding of marine engineering principles, environmental impact assessments, and permitting processes.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and data analysis tools.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work in challenging offshore environments and manage logistics in remote locations.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Setswana is an advantage.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Marine Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Prince2) are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.
Experience
Minimum of five years of experience managing large‑scale renewable energy projects, with at least two years focused on marine or offshore installations. Demonstrated success in delivering projects on schedule and within budget, as well as experience navigating complex regulatory environments in Africa, is essential.
Salary
