Job Overview

This role is pivotal in advancing WaterAid Botswana’s mission to eradicate waterborne diseases and empower communities through sustainable water management. The specialist will design and oversee projects focused on rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and wastewater treatment systems. Candidates will contribute to national water security goals while gaining exposure to cutting-edge environmental technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement water resource management strategies aligned with Botswana’s National Water Policy.
  • Conduct hydrological assessments to identify high-impact project sites.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders to design community-led water conservation initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of water infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to donors and government agencies.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in GIS mapping and water quality analysis software.
  • Strong project management and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Botswana’s water governance frameworks.
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork in remote locations.
  • Proficiency in grant writing and donor reporting.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Hydrology, or related field.
  • Master’s Degree preferred but not required.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in water resource management or environmental engineering.

Salary

150,000 – 200,000 SSP annually, with performance-based bonuses.
