Job Title: Senior Lecturer, Economics
Main Purpose of the Job:
To teach a range of undergraduate and postgraduate Economics courses relevant to Science and Engineering programmes. To work on curriculum development and the advancement of Economics for Science and Engineering majors. Conduct individual research or work on interdisciplinary collaborative projects. Contribute to the University’s performance in research and innovations through publications and other mechanisms. To supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students’ projects. To source external research funding from national and international donors. To participate in community engagement
Key Responsibilities
- To teach a range of undergraduate and postgraduate Economics courses relevant to Science and Engineering programmes.
- To work on curriculum development and the advancement of Economics for Science and Engineering majors.
- Conduct individual research or work on interdisciplinary collaborative projects.
- Contribute to the University’s performance in research and innovations through publications and other mechanisms.
- To supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students’ projects.
- To source external research funding from national and international donors.
- To participate in community engagement
Requirements
- A PhD in Economics or relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
- At least two (2) years post-doctoral experience in either teaching/lecturing/research or industry in economics. Two years of post-doctoral relevant industry/professional experience shall be equivalent to two years teaching experience.
- Evidence of teaching Engineering Economics, Environmental and Bioeconomics, Financial Economics, Risk Management and Project Management.
- Evidence of successful supervision of postgraduate students.
- Record of at least eight (8) publications in ISI/Scopus Indexed journals.
- Registration and accreditation as Assessor and Moderator by the Botswana Qualifications Authority is an added advantage.
- Complete multiple assignments, maintain quality, work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
- Adhere to HR policies, practices and procedures, and conform to professional standards and ethics
- Apply interpersonal styles/methods to develop and motivate staff
