Job Overview

The Offshore Wind Farm Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day management of Shell’s offshore wind assets located off the coast of Botswana’s emerging marine renewable zone. Reporting to the Regional Renewable Energy Director, the manager will oversee operational performance, maintenance planning, health and safety compliance, and stakeholder coordination. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the operational management of offshore wind turbines, ensuring availability targets of 95% or higher.
• Develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance schedules in coordination with engineering and vendor teams.
• Monitor real‑time performance data, analyze trends, and implement optimization initiatives to improve energy output.
• Ensure compliance with local and international health, safety, and environmental regulations, conducting regular audits and risk assessments.
• Manage relationships with government agencies, port authorities, and community stakeholders to secure permits and maintain social license to operate.
• Prepare and present operational reports, KPI dashboards, and financial performance summaries to senior leadership.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analyses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Oversee budgetary control for O&M expenditures, tracking cost efficiencies and forecasting future financial needs.
• Mentor and develop a multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, and support staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Drive sustainability initiatives, including carbon accounting, biodiversity protection, and community outreach programs.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of offshore wind technology, turbine systems, and marine operations.
• Proven leadership and people‑management capabilities in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in offshore operations, project management (PMP), or health and safety (NEBOSH) are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five to seven years of progressive experience in offshore wind farm operations, marine energy projects, or related heavy‑industry environments. Prior experience managing large multidisciplinary teams and delivering on performance targets is essential.
