Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to curriculum development and academic advancement within the discipline
  • Deliver lectures and teaching across assigned modules
  • Provide academic tutoring and student support
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research projects
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student projects
  • Source external and internal research funding opportunities
  • Participate in community engagement initiatives
  • Prepare and submit research proposals and grant applications
  • Supervise graduate students and research projects
  • Design effective learning experiences and academic content

Requirements

  • PhD in Mining Engineering with specialization in:
    • Computer Applications
    • Surface Mining
    • Underground Mining
    • Mine Machinery
    • Mine Backfill
    • Materials Handling
    • Explosives and Rock Fragmentation
  • Strong knowledge of mining software including:
    • Surpac
    • Datamine
    • Other Mining Engineering software
  • Master of Science/Engineering in Mining Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science/Engineering in Mining Engineering
  • Registration with relevant professional bodies

Experience Required

  • Minimum six years of post-doctoral teaching, research, or industry experience
  • At least four years of graduate supervision experience including successful doctoral supervision
  • Minimum three years teaching experience at tertiary level
  • Strong publication record with at least 16 peer-reviewed journal publications indexed in ISI, Scopus, or Web of Science
  • Experience obtaining external research funding and grants
  • Evidence of successful research grant awards
