Financial Accountant – Telecommunications Finance
Job Description
Botswana Telecommunications Corporation is seeking a Financial Accountant to manage financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance for regional telecom operations in Mogoditshane. The role ensures accurate financial records, supports operational and strategic financial decisions, and maintains compliance with statutory accounting and tax requirements.
The successful candidate will collaborate with finance managers, auditors, and operational teams to ensure transparency, optimize cash flow, and deliver timely financial insights to senior management. Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and experience with financial systems are critical for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Maintain general ledger, journal entries, and accounting records
Conduct bank reconciliations, balance sheet reviews, and variance analysis
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Support budget preparation, financial forecasting, and cost control initiatives
Ensure compliance with tax regulations, IFRS standards, and statutory reporting
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and operational expenses
Assist in internal and external audit processes
Implement and maintain financial controls, policies, and procedures
Provide accurate financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, IFRS, and regulatory compliance
Proficiency in ERP accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills
Ability to interpret financial data to guide management decisions
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
