Job Overview
The Quality Assurance Manager will lead the QA department at Bayer’s Mabutsane manufacturing site, ensuring that all products comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), regulatory requirements, and Bayer’s internal quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with GMP and local regulatory guidelines.
- Lead internal and external audits, including regulatory inspections, and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Supervise a team of QA specialists, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development.
- Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues and drive root‑cause analysis.
- Monitor and review batch records, validation protocols, and change control documentation.
- Ensure all released products meet specifications and are compliant with national and international standards.
- Prepare and present quality performance metrics to senior management.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of regulatory changes in Botswana and globally, integrating them into the QA framework.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of GMP, ISO 9001, and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Proficiency in quality management software and data analysis tools.

Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Certified Pharmaceutical GMP Professional are highly desirable.
Experience
Candidates must have 5‑7 years of progressive experience in quality assurance within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience with regulatory inspections in Botswana or other African jurisdictions is an advantage.
