Job Description
The Regional Teachers Initiative for Africa (RTIA) Project, in collaboration with Botswana Open University and Global Gateway, is seeking a highly skilled Qualitative Data Analyst (Consultant) to lead the analysis of qualitative data generated from Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) research. This role requires advanced expertise in qualitative research methodologies.
The consultant will be responsible for conducting systematic and rigorous qualitative data analysis, ensuring accurate coding, interpretation, and visualization of data. The outputs will contribute to high-quality research findings and evidence-based policy recommendations that support educational development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct qualitative data analysis of interviews, focus groups, and field notes using Atlas.ti
Develop and apply robust coding frameworks aligned with PLC research objectives
Utilize advanced Atlas.ti functions to generate semantic maps, thematic maps, word clouds, and relational diagrams
Identify patterns, trends, and insights from qualitative datasets
Produce detailed analytical reports highlighting key findings and recommendations
Collaborate with researchers and project teams to integrate qualitative insights into overall project outputs
Ensure compliance with ethical standards in research and data management
Maintain clear documentation of coding schemes and analytical processes
Deliverables
Coded and categorized qualitative datasets with well-documented coding frameworks
Semantic maps illustrating conceptual relationships between themes
Word clouds highlighting frequency and importance of key terms
Thematic maps outlining major and sub-themes across research findings
Relational diagrams showing linkages between stakeholders, categories, and PLC practices
Analytical memos and structured reports generated within Atlas.ti
Final consultancy report integrating all findings, visualizations, and recommendations
Requirements
Minimum of a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Education, or a related field from a recognized institution
At least 3 years of proven experience in qualitative research and data analysis
Advanced proficiency in Atlas.ti software for qualitative data analysis
Demonstrated ability to produce visual analytical outputs such as semantic maps, thematic maps, and relational diagrams
Experience in education or social science research projects
Strong understanding of research methodologies, ethical standards, and data management practices
Ability to document and present findings through reports, briefs, and publications
