Drones for Africa is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Drone Pilot Instructor / Drone Pilot to support its growing operations across Botswana. This role combines hands-on drone flying with training and instructional responsibilities, making it ideal for candidates passionate about aviation technology, precision agriculture, and geospatial mapping.

The successful candidate will be responsible for executing drone missions, aerial data collection, agricultural spraying operations, and delivering training programs for new drone pilots. You will contribute to projects in agriculture, surveying, and environmental monitoring, working across both urban and remote regions.


🎯 Key Responsibilities

  • Operate multirotor, fixed-wing, and VTOL drones for mapping, surveying, and agricultural purposes
  • Conduct drone pilot training sessions and mentor trainees
  • Perform aerial data collection and GIS mapping activities
  • Execute agricultural spraying missions using drone systems
  • Ensure compliance with aviation safety standards and operational regulations
  • Maintain flight logs, mission reports, and equipment records
  • Assist in project planning and data analysis
  • Travel to remote locations across Botswana for field operations

✅ Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, GIS/Surveying, Agriculture, IT, Aviation, or a related field
  • Completed recognized drone pilot training certification
  • Instructor certification or proven training/teaching experience
  • Documented flight hours on multirotor drones
  • Experience with fixed-wing or VTOL drone platforms is an advantage
  • Practical experience in agricultural spraying and aerial mapping
  • Knowledge of drone regulations, safety compliance, and airspace management
  • Valid Botswana driver’s licence
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including rural and remote areas

🎓 Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Engineering, GIS, Agriculture, IT, Aviation)
  • Certified Drone Pilot License / Training Certification

💼 Experience

  • Minimum 2–5 years of drone operations experience
  • Experience in training or instructing drone pilots is highly desirable
  • Background in precision agriculture, surveying, or mapping projects preferred

💰 Salary (Estimated)

  • BWP 15,000 – 30,000 per month (depending on experience and qualifications)
