Job Overview
The Blockchain Solutions Architect will lead the design, development, and implementation of blockchain-based platforms that support the bank’s digital products and services. This role is pivotal in translating business requirements into scalable, secure, and high‑performance blockchain solutions that drive efficiency, transparency, and trust across financial transactions.
As a senior member of the Technology & Innovation department, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including product managers, security experts, and external partners, to create end‑to‑end blockchain architectures that align with regulatory standards and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and architect enterprise‑grade blockchain solutions for payments, trade finance, and digital identity verification.
- Lead proof‑of‑concept initiatives and pilot projects to evaluate emerging blockchain platforms such as Hyperledger Fabric, Corda, and Ethereum.
- Develop smart contracts, consensus mechanisms, and integration APIs that connect blockchain networks with existing banking systems.
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory frameworks, including KYC, AML, and data protection standards.
- Mentor and guide development teams on blockchain best practices, security protocols, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with vendors and fintech partners to assess technology roadmaps and integration strategies.
- Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and governance policies for internal and external stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Deep expertise in blockchain platforms (Hyperledger, Corda, Ethereum) and smart contract development.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Solidity, Go, Java, or Rust.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of cryptographic principles, consensus algorithms, and distributed ledger security.
- Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into technical designs.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with financial services regulations in Botswana and the Southern African region.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in blockchain technology, cloud architecture, or fintech innovation are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing blockchain solutions in a financial services environment. Demonstrated track record of delivering production‑grade blockchain applications that have been adopted at scale.
Salary
