Job Overview

The Sustainability Reporting Analyst will join BHP’s Corporate Sustainability team in Mochudi, supporting the preparation, verification, and publication of sustainability disclosures in line with GRI, SASB, and the United Nations Global Compact. You will work closely with operations, finance, and external auditors to gather accurate data on emissions, water use, waste management, and community impact. The analyst will also help shape internal sustainability strategies by providing insights derived from data trends and benchmarking against industry best practices. Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, validate, and consolidate environmental and social performance data from mining sites across Botswana.

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate sustainability metrics into financial reporting cycles.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
  • Maintain the sustainability data management system, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
  • Assist in developing ESG dashboards for senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement activities, including community meetings and investor briefings.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar data visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of GRI, SASB, and UN Global Compact reporting standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear report drafting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
  • Understanding of mining operations and associated environmental impacts.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as GRI Certified Training, ESG Analyst, or a Master’s degree are advantageous and demonstrate a deeper commitment to the field.

Experience

Applicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in sustainability reporting, ESG analysis, or environmental data management, preferably within the mining or heavy‑industry sector. Experience with international reporting frameworks and stakeholder engagement is essential.
