Job Overview

The Diamond Mine Sustainability Analyst will support the Sustainability & Environmental Management department by developing, implementing, and monitoring sustainability initiatives at the Jwaneng mine. The analyst will work closely with cross‑functional teams, including operations, engineering, community liaison, and corporate social responsibility, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and to promote best practices in resource efficiency, waste reduction, and community engagement. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive environmental impact assessments for new and existing mining activities.
• Develop and maintain sustainability metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools aligned with international standards such as GRI and ISO 14001.
• Collaborate with operations teams to identify opportunities for energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste minimization.
• Lead community outreach programs, ensuring transparent communication and alignment with local development goals.
• Monitor compliance with Botswana environmental legislation and corporate sustainability policies.
• Prepare detailed sustainability reports for internal stakeholders and external regulators.
• Support the integration of sustainable technologies, such as renewable energy systems and waste‑to‑energy solutions, into mine operations.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder engagement.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations in Botswana and international sustainability frameworks.
• Project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and influence decision‑making.
• Proficiency in GIS mapping and environmental monitoring software is an advantage.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Mining Engineering, Sustainable Development, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Certified Sustainability Professional (CSP) or ISO 14001 Lead Auditor are highly desirable.

Experience
