Job Overview
This position focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining electric vehicle (EV) charging networks across Botswana. The specialist will collaborate with municipal authorities, private sector partners, and international stakeholders to develop scalable solutions that integrate with existing energy grids. The role emphasizes technical expertise in EV systems, project management, and compliance with regional sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and oversee the installation of EV charging stations in urban and rural locations
- Conduct feasibility studies for new infrastructure projects, including grid connectivity assessments
- Develop partnerships with local governments and energy providers to secure permits and funding
- Monitor system performance and implement upgrades to ensure reliability and safety
- Provide technical training to maintenance teams and end-users
Required Skills
- Technical proficiency in EV charging technologies (DC/AC fast chargers, smart grid integration)
- Experience with energy storage systems and grid optimization software
- Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering infrastructure projects on time
- Knowledge of Botswana’s energy regulations and environmental policies
- Excellent communication abilities for cross-sector collaboration
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Systems, or related field
- Professional certification in EV infrastructure (e.g., IEC 61851 standards) is an advantage
Experience
- Minimum 3 years in renewable energy infrastructure development
- Proven experience in EV charging network deployment in emerging markets
Salary
120,000 – 150,000 SSP annually, commensurate with experience and project impact.
