Job Description
The RTIA Project seeks the services of a Data Transcription Specialist (individual consultant or company) to support the transcription and preparation of qualitative data collected from Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). The analyst will be responsible for accurate transcription, formatting, quality assurance, and secure management of audio and textual data, ensuring high-quality outputs that feed into the project’s research and policy work. This adapts the purpose section, where the project requires skilled handling of qualitative research data.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe interviews, focus group discussions, and field recordings with high accuracy and attention to detail, derived from the work with qualitative sources.
- Format transcripts according to RTIA’s quality standards and research protocols.
- Verify transcription accuracy through quality assurance checks, including audio-text crossreview.
- Prepare clean, well-organised transcript files for use with qualitative analysis tools (e.g., Atlas.ti) in line with the project’s analytic workflow.
- Maintain strict confidentiality, handle data securely, and comply with ethical requirements in qualitative research.
- Work closely with project researchers to meet timelines and ensure that transcribed data aligns with research objectives.
Requirements
- A recognised Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Social Sciences, Education, Linguistics, ICT, or a related field.
- Proven experience in transcribing qualitative research data, such as interviews and focus groups.
- Excellent command of English.
- Experience producing clean transcripts for use in research reports, briefs, and publications.
- Familiarity with research ethics, secure data handling, and project documentation standards.
- Strong listening and typing skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, based on similar competencies required in coding/documentation.
- Ability to interpret speech variations, accents, and multiple-speaker audio.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines while maintaining quality.
- Professional integrity and strict adherence to confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
