Job Overview
The Aviation Safety Training Coordinator will lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of safety training programs for pilots, cabin crew, ground staff, and maintenance personnel. This role ensures that all training initiatives align with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and Air Botswana’s internal safety policies. The coordinator will collaborate closely with the Safety Management System (SMS) team, flight operations, and external training providers to maintain a robust safety culture across the organization. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the safety performance of the national airline while contributing to the broader aviation ecosystem in Botswana.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive safety training curricula for all aviation personnel.
- Coordinate the scheduling, logistics, and delivery of classroom and simulator training sessions.
- Assess training effectiveness through performance metrics, feedback surveys, and competency evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with ICAO, Botswana Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA), and Air Botswana safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the SMS team to integrate training outcomes into safety risk assessments.
- Manage relationships with external training providers, auditors, and certification bodies.
- Prepare and present regular training reports to senior management and regulatory authorities.
- Lead safety drills, emergency response simulations, and recurrent training programs.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of aviation safety regulations, SMS principles, and training methodologies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and flight simulation software.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret safety data and translate findings into training improvements.

Education
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Safety Management, Aeronautical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or International Air Transport Association (IATA) Training certifications are highly desirable.
Experience
A minimum of three to five years of experience in aviation safety, training coordination, or a related field is required. Prior experience within an airline environment, especially in roles involving safety management systems or regulatory compliance, will be considered a strong advantage.
