Job Overview
Reuters Botswana is seeking a dynamic Media Relations Officer to manage stakeholder engagement, coordinate media outreach, and amplify the organization’s mission through strategic communication. This role is ideal for a professional with a passion for media, storytelling, and building relationships within the journalism and corporate sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with local and international media outlets.
- Coordinate press releases, interviews, and media events to promote Reuters Botswana’s initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage to assess public perception and adjust communication strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams to produce compelling content for news platforms and social media.
- Act as a liaison between Reuters Botswana and government, corporate, and community stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven experience in media relations, public affairs, or corporate communications.
- Strong understanding of digital media tools and social platforms.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- High ethical standards and commitment to journalistic integrity.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification in Media Management or Public Affairs is an advantage.
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in media relations, public affairs, or corporate communications.
- Experience working with international media organizations or NGOs is preferred.
Salary
SSP 120,000 – 150,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
